Michélle Oosthuizen
Office Manager
"My family plays a vital role in my life. We dedicate a lot of our time to supporting one another through various sporting events. I play in a six-a-side social hockey league, and I enjoy running to clear my mind. I have a slight obsession with plants, and if I have a spare minute, I fill it with gardening"
If you could be any PPE, what would you be and why?
"Definitely eye protection. For me, a person’s eyes reveal a lot about them. You can observe their emotions, thought processes, and level of understanding. Your eyes also offer insight and awareness of what is going on around you. That is definitely worth protecting."
What's the riskiest thing you've done and how did it get you interested in health and safety?
"I have ridden an ostrich… It was quite bizarre. The trainers run alongside you, giving you clear instructions. Amid the chaos, I managed to ignore the cheering crowd and concentrate on what the trainer was asking me to do. My main takeaway from that experience is to focus on the task at hand and ignore unnecessary distractions."
In a work outing, what seat in the car do you get?
"It depends on who is driving. Normally, Tracey will drive and I will sit in the front passenger seat. Although my role is to navigate, I do sometimes have an option on the driving and sometimes slam on my imaginary brakes."
